the impact of cadmium loading in fe/alumina catalysts and synthesis temperature on carbon nanotubes growth by chemical vapor deposition method
Authors
abstract
we evaluated the effect of fe/alumina catalyst contained different cadmium contents and two synthesis temperatures on producing carbon nanotubes by chemical vapor deposition of methane as a feedstock. x-ray powder diffraction (xrd), n2 adsorption-desorption, scanning electron microscopy (sem), transmission electron microscopy (tem), raman spectroscopy and thermogravimetry analysis (tga) were used for characterizing of synthesized catalysts and carbon nanotubes. raman spectrum confirmed the presence of carbon nanotubes. tga showed larger deposited carbon nanotubes in certain cadmium contents and higher synthesis temperature of 950 °c. based on morphological assessment in sem images, the increase in cadmium content leads to the decrease in diameter of resulted carbon nanotubes

full textCarbon Nanotubes Synthesis by Chemical Vapor Deposition of Methane over Zn – Fe Mixed Catalysts Supported on Alumina
Carbon nanotubes were synthesized over a series of Zn-containing Fe/alumina catalysts by chemical vapor deposition method at two reaction temperatures of 850 and 950 °C using methane as a carbon source. Catalysts were synthesized by keeping Fe concentration constant and varying Zn concentration to study the effects of Zn. The catalysts were characterized using X – ray powder diffraction and N2 ...
full textGrowth of carbon nanostructures upon stainless steel and brass by thermal chemical vapor deposition method
The lack of complete understanding of the substrate effects on carbon nanotubes (CNTs) growth poses a lot oftechnical challenges. Here, we report the direct growth of nanostructures such as the CNTs on stainless steel 304and brass substrates using thermal chemical vapor deposition (TCVD) process with C2H2 gas as carbon sourceand hydrogen as supporting gas mixed in Ar gas flow. We used an especi...

full textVarious temperature effects on the growth of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) by thermal chemical vapor deposition (TCVD) method
The growth behavior of carbon nanotubes synthesized from C2H2 at the temperature range of 700 to 900°C and using thermal chemical vapor deposition (TCVD) method has been investigated. Thin films of nickel (Ni) catalyst, were coated on SiO2 substrates by ion beam sputtering technique. The formation of catalytic nickel nanoparticles was much increased when using NH3 as the environment gas which i...

Using a shielded growth approach and N2-annealed, nearly monodispersed Fe2O3 nanoparticles synthesized by interdendritic stabilization of Fe3+ species within fourth-generation poly(amidoamine) dendrimers, carbon nanotubes and nanofibers were successfully grown at low substrate temperatures (200-400 degrees C) by microwave plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition.
